DIECAST MASTERS WESTERN STAR 49X SFFA TRIDEM WITH XL120 LOWBOY COMPLETE 1/16 RC HEAVY-HAUL RTR COMBO

The DCM27010 is the full heavy-haul setup: an officially licensed Western Star 49X SFFA tridem tractor paired with a matching XL120 hydraulic-detachable-gooseneck lowboy trailer. Both pieces are built in imposing 1/16 scale and combine collector-grade road presence with working radio-control functions. Proportional driving, remote fifth-wheel operation, an adjustable and removable gooseneck, synchronized trailer lighting, sound and folding ramps turn this rig into a real operating system rather than a static truck-and-trailer display.

A complete 1/16 heavy-haul combination with tractor, detachable-gooseneck trailer and multi-channel transmitter.

A HEAVY-HAUL RIG BUILT AS A SYSTEM

The tractor and trailer are designed to work together from the box. The 49X provides the drive, steering, lighting, sound and fifth-wheel control; the lowboy adds an electronically operated gooseneck, lighting and ramps for realistic loading demonstrations. The result measures roughly five feet when assembled, so this is not a small desktop model pretending to be heavy equipment. It has the length, axle count and stance to look convincing beside 1/16 construction equipment or in a dedicated trucking display.

  • Officially licensed Western Star 49X SFFA: detailed vocational styling with bright grille treatment, exhaust stacks, tanks, steps and tridem rear-axle layout.
  • Complete XL120 lowboy: long wood-look deck, triple-axle rear bogie, removable gooseneck and folding loading ramps.
  • Digital proportional driving: progressive forward/reverse and steering control for lining up a load accurately.
  • Remote coupling functions: operational fifth-wheel kingpin lock/unlock and transmitter-controlled gooseneck movement.
  • Coordinated realism: truck and trailer lights, turn signals, brake lights, backup lights and sound functions operate as part of the rig.

The complete combination shows the long deck, tridem tractor and triple-axle trailer proportions.

WESTERN STAR 49X SFFA TRIDEM TRACTOR

The bright red 49X is a heavy-haul tractor rather than an ordinary highway sleeper. Its set-forward front axle stance, tall grille, external exhaust stacks and three driven-looking rear axle positions reproduce the visual language of a vocational rig built to move oversize equipment. The model uses metal and high-strength plastic construction with factory paint and decoration, plus detailed wheels, mudflaps, rear deck and fifth-wheel area.

Actual propulsion is 2WD through a brushed power system and metal-geared transmission. The specification should be understood correctly: tridem describes the three rear axle arrangement of the replica; it does not mean all six rear wheel positions are independently powered.

Chrome-style grille, oversize-load sign, cab markers and vocational detailing dominate the front view. The side profile makes the set-forward axle and three-axle rear group easy to see. Rear view of the fifth wheel, deck hardware, mudflaps and tridem chassis layout.

XL120 DETACHABLE-GOOSENECK LOWBOY TRAILER

The included lowboy is not a decorative trailer shell. Its gooseneck can be adjusted from the transmitter and removed so equipment can be driven onto the low deck from the front, following the basic loading method used by full-size detachable-gooseneck trailers. Folding ramps and the long wood-look deck add another level of realism, while the triple-axle rear section supports the heavy-haul appearance.

The trailer also carries functional lighting and sound features. Turn signals, brake lights and backup lights coordinate with the tractor, helping the full combination read as one vehicle during operation. Published maximum load capacity is approximately 5 kg / 11 lb when the model is used on a suitable level surface and operated carefully.

The removable gooseneck allows front loading and unloading instead of forcing equipment over unrealistic ramps. The gooseneck assembly separates from the deck and connects to the tractor for controlled loading sequences. Low deck height, wood-look planks, rear bogie and folding ramps reproduce a proper equipment trailer layout. The standalone trailer view highlights the deck construction, triple rear axles and rear lighting.

2.4 GHZ PROPORTIONAL RADIO CONTROL

The included multi-channel transmitter operates the complete rig on the 2.4 GHz band. Driving controls are proportional, allowing slow approaches and small steering corrections when positioning the tractor under the trailer, backing into a loading zone or maneuvering the assembled five-foot combination. Published radio range is approximately 3035 m / 98115 ft depending on conditions.

Maximum truck speed is approximately 10 km/h / 6.2 mph. That is deliberately moderate: this model is designed for controlled scale operation, not jumping curbs or running like a racing truck. Up to 12 compatible 2.4 GHz units may be operated in the same area under suitable interference conditions.

The transmitter controls proportional travel and steering, lighting, sound, fifth-wheel operation and trailer functions. Published figures include approximately 10 km/h maximum speed, 5 kg hauling capacity and up to 60 minutes unloaded.

LIGHTING, SOUND AND COUPLING FUNCTIONS

  • Forward and reverse driving with electronic braking
  • Proportional left and right steering
  • Headlights, taillights and cab marker lights
  • Turn signals and hazard-light functions
  • Brake lights and reverse lights
  • Realistic engine and truck sound effects
  • Remote fifth-wheel kingpin lock/unlock
  • Adjustable and removable trailer gooseneck
  • Functional trailer lights synchronized with the tractor
  • Foldable rear loading ramps

BATTERY, RUN TIME AND CHARGING

The package includes a 7.4 V 2000 mAh rechargeable 2S lithium drive battery and a USB charging cable. Published play time is up to approximately 40 minutes with a load or 60 minutes unloaded; actual results vary with load mass, surface, steering activity, lighting and sound use, temperature and battery condition. Published charging time is approximately 210 minutes with the supplied 1 A USB charging arrangement.

Charge only under adult supervision on a nonflammable surface. Do not leave the battery unattended, do not charge a damaged or swollen pack, and allow the battery to cool before recharging. The model is not advertised as water resistant, so keep the truck, trailer electronics and transmitter dry.

Official product presentation identifies the licensed 1/16 Western Star 49X and matching XL120 trailer.

OPERATING NOTES FOR A RIG THIS SIZE

  1. Plan the turning area before moving; the complete tractor-trailer combination is approximately five feet long.
  2. Use slow proportional inputs when coupling the fifth wheel or separating the gooseneck.
  3. Load on a level, clean surface and keep the payload centered over the low deck.
  4. Do not exceed the published 5 kg / 11 lb load rating, and reduce the load on grades or high-friction surfaces.
  5. Do not lift the model by mirrors, exhaust stacks, ramps or the movable gooseneck mechanism.
  6. Store the battery at an appropriate storage charge if the rig will not be used for an extended period.

GASHEAD RC VERDICT: The DCM27010 is the choice for someone who wants the whole heavy-haul scene in one box. The licensed Western Star, huge detachable-gooseneck trailer, synchronized lighting and remote coupling functions create the kind of mechanical theater that static diecast cannot deliver. It looks imposing parked and becomes the centerpiece the moment the gooseneck comes off and loading begins.
